Students earn endowed scholarships at Baldwin Wallace University
More than 600 students earned endowed scholarships at Baldwin Wallace University this fall. BW has a long history of endowed scholarship support from alumni, faculty, trustees and friends. More than 385 named scholarships provide over $3 million to help students attend, persist and graduate from BW. Endowed scholarships vary in their requirements with many specifying financial need, a course of study, involvement on campus or a commitment to excellence in a particular field.

YSU announces 2017 Homecoming Court
Students at Youngstown State University have elected 10 candidates to serve on the 2017 YSU Homecoming Court. The Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned during halftime ceremonies at YSU's football game with Illinois State University on Saturday, Oct. 28, in Stambaugh Stadium. This year's theme for the event is "Black, White and Red All Over," to commemorate the university's 77th Homecoming Celebration.

YSU Awards First-Year Student Scholarships
Youngstown State University has recognized more than 300 first-year students with Martin Luther King Merit Awards and/or Trailblazer Scholarships. The MLK Merit Award is a $1,000 merit-based award for new high school graduates of local inner-city schools, and the Trailblazer Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship for freshmen that aims to encourage outstanding students from diverse backgrounds.

Three Youngstown State University graduate students created an exhibit, titled "We Made It! We Sold It! We Bought It!", for display at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor. The exhibit, which opened in early May, features a wide range of household artifacts that people of the industrial northeast manufactured, bought and sold during America's golden industrial era (1945-1965).

YSU students awarded paid Nonprofit Leadership internships
Ten Youngstown State University were awarded paid internships under the 2017 Nonprofit Leadership Summer Honors Internship Program, thanks to a $65,000 grant that the Raymond John Wean Foundation awarded to the Center for Nonprofit Leadership at YSU's Williamson College of Business Administration. The program offers full-time, 12-week paid internships for qualified YSU students with career-related work experience in a nonprofit or public sector organization. The internship program runs May 15 to Aug. 4. This is fourth time YSU has offered the internships.

Exceptional students earn recognition at Baldwin Wallace University's Ovation Festival 2017
Ovation Festival 2017, BW's annual celebration of student achievement, spotlighted student success in research and scholarship, the arts, experiential learning and leadership, and athletics. The signature event of the 10-day festival was the Day of Excellence, which featured student work from every school of the University through posters, displays, live presentations and performances. The day concluded with the Honors Awards Ceremony that recognized students with scholarships and awards.
